In addition to us helping you, there are things you can do before your visit to help you relax:
Be Mindful of Your Appointment Time
It is important to schedule your appointment at a time that works best for you. You may want to schedule it on a day you don’t have to work. Also, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to the office to avoid additional stress.
Avoid Caffeine
While many people drink caffeine in the mornings for the boost of energy it gives them to start the day, it can be problematic if you have it before an appointment. Caffeine increases blood flow and can make nervousness and anxiety worse. We advise that you refrain from drinking any caffeinated beverages before your appointment. Try water or herbal tea instead.
Bring Headphones
We encourage patients to bring headphones to listen to their favorite music, podcast, or audiobook. It will make passing the time more enjoyable and can provide a pleasant distraction.
We never want nervous feelings to keep you from getting the oral care you deserve.
