Be Honest With Us
If you have been avoiding receiving dental care because of anxiety or fear, please be honest with us. You are not alone in your feelings. In fact, dental fear affects more than one third of Americans to some degree. We get concerned, however, when that fear keeps you from visiting our office. Our team specializes in helping patients recognize and overcome their feelings. We want you to feel comfortable and confident when you are in our office for treatment. In addition to us helping you, there are things you can do before your visit to help you relax:
Be Mindful of Your Appointment Time
It is important to schedule your appointment at a time that works best for you. You may want to schedule it on a day you don’t have to work. Also, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to the office to avoid additional stress.
While many people drink caffeine in the mornings for the boost of energy it gives them to start the day, it can be problematic if you have it before an appointment. Caffeine increases blood flow and can make nervousness and anxiety worse. We advise that you refrain from drinking any caffeinated beverages before your appointment. Try water or herbal tea instead.
We encourage patients to bring headphones to listen to their favorite music, podcast, or audiobook. It will make passing the time more enjoyable and can provide a pleasant distraction.
We never want nervous feelings to keep you from getting the oral care you deserve. If you have not visited our office for a hygiene examination within the past six months, we encourage you to call our office, which is located in Bozeman, MT, and schedule an appointment today. Please express your feelings, and we will be more than happy to help you!
