As you enter into adulthood, your third molars, aka wisdom teeth, begin to erupt. These late-comers can cause the rest of your teeth a number of problems —pushing them around and crowding them so that your bite becomes misaligned. Other times, your wisdom teeth may not erupt properly, becoming infected or impacted, which can be very painful. When this happens, Dr. Murphy will recommend that you have your wisdom teeth extracted.

Try as we might, sometimes a tooth just can’t be saved. If a tooth is damaged beyond repair, whether due to decay, trauma, or injury, Dr. Murphy will recommend it be extracted and replaced to keep your mouth healthier in the long term.

Healing time will also vary based on the extent of the procedure. Dr. Murphy will give you all the information you need to know before the procedure so you can be fully and properly prepared, and she will send you home with easy-to-follow after-care instructions to ensure a quick and comfortable recovery.
