Dental Cleaning

How often should I have my teeth cleaned?

A cleaning every six months is the best way to avoid gum disease and other oral health concerns. It’s also a great way to keep your teeth whiter and free from plaque!

How often should I see the dentist?

Every smile is different and needs a unique treatment plan to keep it healthy and bright. Dr. Murphy will recommend a visit schedule that meets your needs and smile goals. For most patients, however, coming in every six months for routine preventive care is enough to maintain a healthy smile.

Do dental cleanings hurt?

Dental cleanings are typically a comfortable procedure. Our hygienists are trained to use a gentle, patient approach to make sure you feel at ease during every step of your cleaning. If you have tender, puffy, or swollen gums, some discomfort is normal, but we’ll do everything we can to make sure your experience is a pleasant one.

Crowns

How long does it take to get a crown?

It typically takes 2-3 visits over a few weeks to get your crown placed. This includes your initial consultation with the doctor, tooth preparation, impressions, your temporary crown, and final crown placement.

How long do crowns last?

Crowns are designed to keep your teeth protected and healthy for many years. With good at-home care and regular checkups, you can expect your crown to last up to 10 years. Porcelain crowns can last 15-20 years with optimal care.

How much do crowns costs?

As with any dental procedure, your total treatment costs will depend on the extent of the care you need. Our team will provide you with a complete breakdown of all the costs and a list of payment options for your convenience.

Implants

What happens if I don’t get an implant?

Missing teeth make it difficult to chew your food properly, which can lead to digestive problems and nutritional deficiencies. After you lose a tooth, your jaw will also begin to shrink and cause your facial muscles to sag.

Do implants hurt?

Getting an implant is a minor surgical procedure, during which Dr. Murphy will insert the implants into your jawbone. Be sure to follow the postoperative care instructions we provide you for a comfortable recovery.

How many appointments will it take to get an implant?

You will visit our office 3-4 times during your dental implant treatment experience. The full process includes your initial consultation, treatment planning, surgery, and follow-ups to check on your progress.

Whitening

Do over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments work?

Yes, but they contain weaker bleaching gels than the options available at our office. This is why over-the-counter and at-home whitening solutions take several weeks to provide visible results. Buying drugstore alternatives such as whitening toothpaste, rinses, whitening strips, and kits can also cost more over time. One session with Dr. Murphy provides immediate results that last much longer than what you will see with store-bought products.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Teeth whitening is a very safe and effective procedure. Our peroxide-based bleaching treatments use specifically formulated ingredients that dramatically brighten your teeth while minimizing irritation to your sensitive gums.

Does teeth whitening hurt?

Generally, teeth whitening is a very comfortable procedure. You may experience some temporary sensitivity in your teeth after a whitening session. However, Dr. Murphy takes every precaution to protect your teeth and gums to minimize any discomfort.

How much does teeth whitening cost?

As with any dental procedure, your total treatment costs will depend on the extent of the cosmetic care you need. Our team will provide you with a complete breakdown of the costs associated with your teeth whitening treatment and a list of payment options for your convenience.

Veneers

How much do veneers cost?

The total cost of your veneer treatment plan will depend on your unique care needs, such as the number of veneers recommended to meet your aesthetic goals. Our team will provide you with a complete breakdown of all treatment costs and payment options prior to receiving treatment so you know exactly what to expect.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers are typically made from high-quality dental ceramics that are strong, durable, and stain resistant. With good at-home care and dental hygiene, you can expect your veneers to last 10-15 years.

What do veneers treat?

Veneers are used to treat a variety of cosmetic flaws and dental imperfections. This includes chips, cracks, worn-down enamel, stains, discoloration, gaps, and misshapen teeth. Once your veneers are placed, they will mask all of these flaws, and you will have a beautiful, uniform smile.

How long does it take to get veneers?

You can expect your veneer treatment experience to take 2-3 appointments over 2-4 weeks, depending on your unique needs. This includes your initial consultation, teeth preparation, fabrication, and application.
