Dr. Cassandra Murphy Can Help You Manage Your Dental Anxiety
At Bozeman Gentle Dentistry, we are passionate about patients getting the dental care they need in a comfortable and relaxing environment. Dr. Cassandra Murphy understands that many people have varying ranges of emotions about visiting the dentist and receiving treatment. Some people are slightly nervous, while others experience severe fear. We want each and every patient to know that their feelings matter and are valid. We are here to help you overcome your fears so you can get the dental treatment you need and deserve.
Don’t Let Your Feelings Impact Your Dental Health
As mentioned above, many people experience dental anxiety. The problem arises when you allow your feelings to stop you from receiving dental care. Unfortunately, patients who experience dental anxiety and fear often require more dental work and time in our office because problems with their oral health have continued to progress, requiring more in-depth and extensive treatments. Dr. Murphy specializes in caring for patients who experience fear of dental procedures and dentists in general and can help you get the care you need.
Helping Patients Overcome Their Feelings
A common term that is used frequently is sedation dentistry. While there is a time and place for sedation dentistry to be used, we believe in handling patients in a different manner. Sedation dentistry helps a patient remain calm while receiving the dental treatment they may need, but it doesn’t help them overcome their feelings. The next trip to the dentist will stir up the same feelings, resulting in the need for more sedation.
Dr. Murphy takes a different approach and wants to understand how you are feeling. She speaks with her patients to learn more about their past experiences and their current concerns and feelings. There are a number of adjustments that can be made to help you feel more comfortable while receiving treatment. For example, a specific numbing jelly can be used before receiving numbing medication. We are also more than happy to explain any tool or process with as much depth and detail as you need. For patients who are sensitive to sounds, you are welcome to take advantage of the TV and headphones.
If you experience dental fear and anxiety and have been avoiding dental care and dental treatment, we can help you! If you are located in Bozeman, MT or in the surrounding area, contact our office to speak to Dr. Murphy. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
