No-Fear Dentistry
Dental anxiety is common, as much as we wish it weren’t. Some patients suffer from anxiety to the point they will not even enter a dentist’s office. Other patients are afraid of pain or needles, and others have had traumatic experiences in the past that keep them from receiving basic dental care. At Bozeman Gentle Dentistry, one of our specialties is working with fearful patients to help them feel good about going to the dentist and getting the essential care they need.
We Understand
Many of the patients we see experience some degree of anxiety or fear when it comes to dental care. Our team members are especially equipped to help them and empathize with fearful patients. It can be difficult for some patients to control their dental anxiety, even avoiding essential care as a result. These patients need support from people they can trust to help them overcome their fears and take charge of their oral health. That’s who we try to be for our patients.
Gentle is in Our Name
Dr. Murphy and her team are experts at gentle dental care. They have spent hours and hours perfecting their techniques to ensure that patients do not experience any discomfort during treatment. We use special tools and different numbing procedures specifically for patients who are afraid of pain and injections and offer comfort amenities for patients who get nervous in the dentist’s chair and may need a distraction.
Communication is Key
The biggest tool we have for helping our patients overcome their dental anxiety is communication. Dr. Murphy personally consults with each of her patients to learn about their past experiences, their triggers, their needs, and their goals. She will take as much time as the patient needs to feel comfortable proceeding with treatment and continually check in during the treatment process to ensure they remain comfortable with each step. If the patient desires, she will explain every tool and piece of equipment she will be using to help the patient better understand their purpose. She will also thoroughly outline each step involved in the treatment she’ll be performing and answer all the patient’s questions without rushing them to move on.
Dr. Murphy and her team are exceptionally compassionate toward patients who experience dental fear and anxiety. They strive to give their patients the best chance at success and will do everything they can to help. If you or someone you care about has been neglecting their oral health out of fear, please contact our office located in Bozeman, MT. We are sensitive to your needs and are here to help.
